Good Health Starts With A Healthy Heart…

Heart Disease
Heart disease is the biggest health risk Americans face today. If you don’t have heart disease now, you can help prevent it. If you’ve already been diagnosed with heart disease, you can keep it from getting worse.
Here are the tools to get you started.

Video: Cardiac Rehabilitation
Physical activity is healthy for your heart—even after you've had a heart attack or bypass surgery. It's important to start out slowly, under the supervision of cardiac rehab specialists. In this video, you'll learn what's involved in cardiac rehab and how it can benefit your health in the long term.
An ounce of prevention pays off with a pound of well-being through Lake Granbury Medical Center Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. Our program is designed to provide cardiac patients and their families with all the advantages of cardiac fitness and a new beginning of a healthier lifestyle. The emphasis is on education and progressive exercise monitored by the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program (CRP) Team.

The CRP Team, in conjunction with your physician, supports you through the program. Team members provide you with:

  • Confidence to perform daily activities
  • Education to help you attain a healthier lifestyle
  • Motivation and Encouragement
  • Knowledgeable, professional guidance to help you adapt to a new lifestyle

Phase I

Occurs during your stay as an inpatient in the hospital.

Phase II

Phase II of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is conducted in the Therapy Services center, which provides aerobic conditioning, strength conditioning, and cardiac conditioning.

Phase II emphasizes a specialized exercise program designed to help you reach your full potential. You'll wear a heart monitor so that the CRP Team can safely monitor your progress throughout this 12-week period. This provides you with continuous feedback on your body's responses to exercise, ensures safety, and indicates appropriate responses for progression. Throughout the program, your physician is continuously updated on your progress.

Phase III

Phase III of the program is available for those individuals who are at a high risk of cardiovascular disease but who may not need to go through Phase II. Although heart monitors are only worn once a month during this phase, exercise is supervised and adjusted as necessary. Phase III also provides continuing exercise and monitoring for graduates of Phase II. This is a self-pay program.

What You Can Expect

The CRP Team establishes an effective and safe program to start you on the road to recovery.

Patients attend classes three times a week. The classes concentrate on exercise and other important aspects of daily living such as good nutrition, healthy eating habits, weight control, smoking cessation, cholesterol and stress management.

Who Benefits From The Program

The Cardiac Rehabilitation Programs at LGMC focuses on individuals who have heart disease or who are at high risk for heart disease. With your physician's referral, the CRP Team will establish a personalized program tailored to meet your needs and capabilities. Patients graduate from the Phase II program with improvement in strength and endurance as well as overall health and wellness.
