Therapy Services

Lake Granbury Medical Center's Therapy Services Center offers Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy, plus many related services.

What is Physical Therapy?

Physical Therapy helps preserve, develop, and restore physical function. It can help restore physical health that has been lost due to injury, disease, or other causes.

Physical Therapy may include treatment for pain, range of motion, strength, posture, balance, and endurance. Based on a patient's needs, specific goals are set for each individual. Some typical goals might be to improve range of motion of a joint, to increase strength in a muscle, or to improve ability to walk.

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapy enables patients return to their activities related to duties at work and home. Occupational Therapy helps patients regain skills and overcome obstacles. A myriad of approaches are implemented to improve patients' quality of life and ability to return to activities one is accustomed to performing.

Our Staff

From the initial evaluation until the time discharge, patients receive "one-on-one" care from our LGMC Therapy Services Team – a compassionate and skilled group of licensed physical therapists and physical therapy assistants – some staff members have over 20 years of therapy experience.

In most cases, the same therapist provides a patient's care for the duration of treatment. This ensures excellent continuity of care for the patient and improved communication with the referring physician.

The Individualized Treatment Process

Therapy Services, both physical and occupational, require a referral or a prescription from a medical practitioner such as a doctor, podiatrist, or dentist. Insurance carriers may require authorization prior to treatment beginning.

At the first visit, a licensed therapist will perform a patient evaluation. Assessments of pain, ability, and function will be conducted for all affected areas. Every patient is unique; therefore each treatment program is tailored to fit individual needs and abilities identified during the evaluation.

A course of treatment may consist of:

  • Strengthening & Stretching Exercises
  • Ultrasound
  • Electrical Stimulation
  • Hot or Cold Packs
  • Manual Therapy
  • Exercise & Weight Training Equipment
  • Customized Splinting

Our innovative program offers:

  • Confidence to return to daily activities
  • Education for living a healthier lifestyle
  • Motivation and encouragement
  • Progress along the road to recovery

Therapy Services has moved to Pecan Reserve, just past the Driftwood Theater, on Water's Edge Drive.

LGMC's Therapy Team is delighted with their new facility. The new location doubles their square footage and provides spacious, private treatment rooms. Moving to a more convenient location in the middle of town – just off Highway 377- allows outpatients to stop in for therapy and then shop, eat lunch, go to the movies, or go to the bank.

LGMC's Therapy Center is collaborating with Studio 1*2*1, located in the adjacent suite. This unqiue approach to personal training is operated by Chris Teacle, PA-C. Clients will have "walk thru" access to Studio 1*2*1's up-to-date weight and exercise equipment. This innovative partnership will help speed recovery and expand treatment options.
