Healthy Connections
For 20 years, Lake Granbury Medical Center (LGMC) has sponsored its Senior Circle chapter to improve the health and wellness of those ages 50 and better. Several years ago, LGMC’s monthly Healthy Woman Lunch & Learn programs transitioned to Healthy Connections, which were open to women and men of all ages. Recent review of both programs prompted the hospital to widen its reach. Healthy Connections will now become a community-wide resource for ALL residents - old, young, men, women, long-time citizens, and new neighbors.
Healthy Connections’ focus will be to help our community live healthier, longer and more fulfilling lives. Health education, disease prevention and exercise will remain priorities, while new programs will focus on mind, body and spirit. Research proves that attention must be given to all these elements to maximize the health and wellness of individuals, families and communities.
Population health has become a world-wide, national, workplace and personal initiative. Over time, many factors affect one’s health and some can even prevent disease. Intervening at specific points during the various stages of life can help reduce risk factors (genetics, environment, social behaviors and lifestyle choices) and promote better health. LGMC’s Healthy Connections program will mirror the national Healthy People 2020 goal to “promote quality of life, healthy development and healthy behaviors across all life stages.”
LGMC is excited about Healthy Connections becoming a resource for the entire community!
