Lake Granbury Medical Center Earns 4-Star Overall Quality Rating

Lake Granbury Medical Center has earned a 4-Star Overall Hospital Quality Rating, based on data released on Hospital Compare this month. In this latest release, LGMC moved from a three-star to a four-star hospital.
The star ratings combine performance on more than 50 measures of hospital quality into a single rating of one to five stars (with five stars being the best). The performance measures include those related to safety, readmission, patient experience, and mortality. The overall rating shows how well each hospital performed, on average, compared to other hospitals in the U.S.
Based on the results of the data, over 4,000 Medicare-certified hospitals are rated on a 5-Star system. LGMC is in the top 24% of acute care hospitals in Texas to earn the 4-Star rating. The most common overall rating is three stars, according to the CMS.
Why is the star rating important for consumers and patients? Leslie Haynes, chief quality officer at Lake Granbury Medical Center, explains, “The star rating is important because it shows this community we are continuously improving services. I can think of nothing more sacred than the trust we place in those who provide physical and mental services to us when we become injured, sick or frail. Life is precious, this community can have confidence is our ability to take care of them when they need us most.”
The new hospital ratings, which range from one to five stars, can be found on the CMS hospital comparison site Medicare.gov/hospitalcompare.
