Lake Granbury Medical Center – Celebrating 25 Years of Commitment to the Community

GRANBURY, Texas – For Lake Granbury Medical Center, 2022 marks 25 years of commitment to the residents of Hood, Erath, and Somervell Counties, with the delivery of safe, quality care and investments to expand and enhance services. The hospital’s overall community benefit each year is significant and totaled more than $123 million in 2021.
The pandemic has heightened the need for medical care and the hospital has supported more than 1,600 COVID inpatients since March 2020 while safely sustaining ongoing medical services. Last year, the hospital and clinics delivered care at more than 283,000 patient encounters. And more than 500 outpatients were treated with monoclonal antibodies, helping them avoid serious symptoms and hospitalization.
“The pandemic has demonstrated how interconnected we all are, the impact each one of us can have, and the benefit of working together for a common cause,” said Denten Park, interim chief executive officer for Lake Granbury Medical Center. “Our community and our patients are truly fortunate to have such a resilient and committed team of clinicians here in Granbury who are making a difference for hundreds of patients each day.”
Employees and medical staff were tireless in their dedication, supporting more than 21,000 emergency department visits, more than 3,000 inpatients, and performing more than 6,300 surgeries. Over 252,000 patients received care across the Lakeside Physicians clinics and the imaging centers and physical therapy clinics affiliated with Lake Granbury Medical Center. More than 600 babies were welcomed at the hospital’s labor and delivery unit.
The hospital’s quality of care was recognized by respected agencies and national accrediting bodies, including:

- Acute Heart Attack Ready Advanced Certification
- Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification
- Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program
- TJC Perinatal Care Certification
- Neonatal Care Designation Level I
- Maternal Care Designation Level II
To expand access to quality primary and specialty care, the hospital recruited four new physicians to the medical staff and community last year, including Abdul Basit, M.D., board-certified cardiologist, Michelle Stegenga, D.O., board-certified OB/GYN, Bishnu H. Sapkota, M.D., board-certified neurologist, and Radha Narayanan, M.D., board-certified gastroenterologist. These physicians joined over 380 providers already practicing on the medical staff, caring for patients in the hospital and their clinics.
As Lake Granbury Medical Center works to continuously meet patients’ needs, it also gives back to the broader Granbury region. Lake Granbury Medical Center provided over $43 million in charity and uncompensated care in 2021. The $2.8 million paid in property, sales, and GRT taxes helps support civic resources and services in the communities it serves.
Lake Granbury Medical Center also works with local charitable and community organizations such as the Granbury Chamber of Commerce, Hood County United Way, Ruth’s Place, and Prevent Child Abuse America. Physicals and health evaluations support the health of Granbury Police Department officers and hundreds of school physicals were provided throughout the Granbury and Glen Rose independent school districts. Over $661,000 in donations and outreach contributions were distributed in the communities.
The hospital’s payroll of more than $67 million ripples across the local economy. The hospital also made capital improvements totaling more than $3.2 million brought a second surgical robotic system, renovations to the ER patient waiting area, and an ambulance bay expansion to better serve local EMS and patients.
“We remain committed to adjusting our services to respond to the community’s changing needs,” said Park. “One thing that won’t change, however, is our ongoing commitment to the communities and residents we serve.”
