Lake Granbury Medical Center Moves Forward with Plans for Free-Standing ED
1/24/2023
Lake Granbury Medical Center has purchased land at the corner of Highway 377 and Fall Creek Highway with plans to construct a free-standing emergency facility (FSED).
"We are excited to announce the plans for this new facility which coincides with the tremendous growth Granbury and surrounding communities are experiencing," states Curt M. Junkins, CEO of Lake Granbury Medical Center.
The $15 million facility will house an emergency department staffed 24/7 by emergency medicine physicians, seven exam rooms, including a negative airflow room to contain the spread of airborne infections, a major treatment room, as well as a decontamination room, triage and results-waiting areas, an onsite laboratory and diagnostic imaging services.
Patients with emergent and potentially life-threatening conditions, including heart attacks, strokes, head injuries, fractures, abdominal pain, respiratory issues, and more, will benefit from this convenient location and the access it provides to Lake Granbury Medical Center's critical care services. As a department of Lake Granbury Medical Center, the free-standing emergency department will accept the same insurance plans, including commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid, for the convenience of patients.
"I would like to thank everyone at the city of Granbury, including mayor Jim Jarrat, city manager Chris Coffman, city attorney Jeremy Sorelle, economic development director Lance Lacour, the Granbury city council members, as well as LGMC's board of trustees, physicians, and staff." mentioned, Junkins. "These folks and many others provided the support and encouragement to get this project moving and off the ground. We're excited to deepen our support for Granbury as it grows and for the increased access to emergency care, this will bring for residents. Though a free-standing building, this emergency facility will be an extension of our hospital in the community and provide a direct link for quality emergent care."
Groundbreaking is expected in the summer of 2023, with anticipated completion in the summer of 2024.
