Lake Granbury Medical Center Recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review for Zero Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection Rate
5/27/2026
Lake Granbury Medical Center has been recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of just 508 hospitals nationwide, and one of only 43 hospitals in Texas, to achieve a catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) rate of zero.
The recognition is based on data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Healthcare Associated Infections-Hospital database, which measures how often patients contract certain infections during medical treatment. The data reflects reporting from July 2024 through June 2025 and was last updated May 13, 2026.
CAUTIs are among the most common healthcare-associated infections and can lead to serious complications for hospitalized patients. Achieving a zero infection rate reflects the commitment of physicians, nurses, clinical staff and support teams to patient safety and high-quality care.
“This recognition is a direct reflection of the dedication and vigilance of our entire team,” said Curt M. Junkins, CEO. “Providing safe, high-quality care is always our top priority, and we are incredibly proud of the work our staff does every day to protect our patients.”
The healthcare-associated infection measures are developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and collected through the National Healthcare Safety Network. The CDC calculates a standardized infection ratio using factors such as patient health, hospital size, care location, and other clinical variables.
“Our team works hard every day to ensure patients receive excellent care in a safe environment,” said Dr. Peggy Luna, CNO. “Being recognized nationally for these efforts is meaningful because it represents the real work happening at the bedside every day.”
Lake Granbury Medical Center is a full-service acute care hospital serving Hood County and surrounding communities with a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services.
