For Lake Granbury Medical Center, 2018 marked over 30 years of commitment to the residents of Hood, Erath, and Somervell counties. Over the course of the year, Lake Granbury Medical Center touched more than 160,000 lives, providing care for patients who were admitted to the hospital, utilized our emergency room, or sought care on an outpatient basis.
More than 22,100 patients entered our hospital through our emergency department last year. We hospitalized over 5,700 patients and performed 7,285 surgeries. More than 180,000 patients received care across our Lakeside Physicians clinics, imaging centers, and physical therapy clinics affiliated with Lake Granbury Medical Center. And we welcomed more than 540 babies into the world at our hospital.
In addition, Lake Granbury Medical Center’s quality of care was recognized by respected agencies and national accrediting bodies, including certifications from the Joint Commission for Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement, Chest Pain and Perinatal Care.
Furthering our commitment to expand access to quality primary and specialty care, we recruited four new physicians to the medical staff and community last year, including Carrie Morris, M.D., oculofacial plastic surgeon, Saloni Paudel, D.O., pediatrician; Will Sawyer, D.O., ophthalmologist; and Paul Schmidt, M.D., family medicine. These individuals joined the 130 of providers already practicing on the medical staff, caring for patients in the hospital and their clinics.
As Lake Granbury Medical Center works to continuously meet patient needs, it also gives back to the broader Granbury region. In the last year, Lake Granbury Medical Center provided approximately $10.3 million in charity and uncompensated care to the area’s neediest residents. We also supported civic resources and services through payment of more than $1.6 million in property and sales taxes.
We also enjoyed working with a number of local charitable and community organizations, most significantly, Granbury Chamber of Commerce, Granbury ISD, Mission Granbury, and Hood County United Way. Free health education seminars, community screenings and other in-kind donations are another way we helped area residents take care of their health. Lake Granbury Medical Center remains committed to adjusting our services to respond to the community’s changing needs. One thing that won’t change, however, is our ongoing commitment to this community and its residents. We are here to serve our patients with the medical care and services they need, close to home.
